N-ICE CELLO. TALE OF THE ICE CELLO

Documentary film screening with director, musician and author Corrado Bungaro, Wednesday 7 December, at 9 pm

Documentary film screening with director, musician and author Corrado Bungaro, Wednesday 7 December, at 9 pm. The documentary recounts the journey of American artist Tim Linhart’s ice cello, formed from the waters of the Presena glacier at 2,800m above sea level, in Trentino.

The journey takes viewers on the road with the famous composer and musician Giovanni Sollima and the ice cello. Scenes composed of various musical situations: solo act and shows with other musicians, traveling between highways, theatres, seas, museums, boats, people, glaciers, cities and nature.

A journey that take us across 1500 kilometers by land and by sea, stopping to be played in concerts in Venice and Rome before its arrival at the Teatro Politeama in Palermo. Carrying a constant sense of suspense due to the delicacy of what is being transported, together with companions along the way, the audience is introduced to characters from the world of science and art who offer their testimonies and reflections on the fate of the planet. Their voices address urgent issues such as climate change, the rise in temperature, the melting of glaciers, the water crisis, and the inevitable social and humanitarian consequences.

The ice cello comes to it final destination when a group of Sicilian fishermen gently immerse it into the waters, as it slowly melts away. As a symbolical message, the waters return in an act of restitution like those whose lands have turned into chaos causes by conflicts and mass climatic migration.

Produced by the University of Padua, N-ICE CELLO. Tale of the Ice Cello is one of three moments of “Ice Concert“, an event organized by the Botanical Garden along with the cultural association Il Vagabondo, in collaboration with Wasabi filmmakers and the Teatro Stabile del Veneto. The events are made possible thanks to Alì spa as technical sponsor, as part of the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the University of Padua.

THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT
